Inside the book you will find guidance through the coming out process and beyond into your new identity. Miriam will be publishing for the first time her unique conceptual model of the later in life coming out process which differs from other experiences of coming out – The Closet to Clarity Model – and will also be running a book group series on the model next year for live discussion and deeper exploration. The model is shown in this picture with some incomplete words. If you check back some of the words will appear over the next few months!
You will also find her Safe Uncertainty in Love Model adapted from Mason – for the first time in print but shared at conferences in 2023 and 2025 and then at the Out & Wild Festival recently.
The book contains explanations of the context in which you grew up and the factors that led to you coming out later, information about the process, as well as practical exercises for reflection and your nervous system management during a prolonged period of stress.
Common concerns are addressed and an understanding of Pride, the “middle passage” of adult life, the process of becoming and authenticity are thoughtfully presented with vignettes that are inclusive to a diverse range of queer people at all different stages of coming out later as not straight and of being out now.
Miriam is currently researching for her next book about relationships with or as a neurodiverse woman and pondering how we will grow old in this new identity..
